About
Dr. Cherry
Born
in Fort Smith, Arkansas, Dr. Cherry did his pre-med studies
at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, from 1966 to 1969. Dr.
Cherry attended The University of Texas Medical School at
San Antonio from 1969 to 1973 and, after graduation, did his
post-graduate training in Internal Medicine and Radiology
at Methodist Hospital in Dallas, Texas.
After
completion of this post-graduate training, Dr. Cherry joined
Dr. Kenneth Cooper at the Aerobics Center/Cooper Clinic in
Dallas, Texas, practicing preventive medicine. During the
same period of time, he worked at the Institute for Aerobics
Research in Dallas as a Research Associate, studying the effects
of exercise and nutrition on the prevention of disease. Dr.
Cherry then moved to Houston in 1975 and opened his own clinic
for the practice of diagnostic and preventive medicine as
a diagnostic facility specializing not only in the diagnosis
of disease but also in the use of nutrition and exercise prescription
to alter disease risk. Dr. Cherry is also an ordained minister
who combines the technology of modern medicine with prayer
for the sick.
Dr. Cherry
is a member of the American Medical Association, Texas Medical
Association, Harris County Medical Society, and the American
College of Preventive Medicine. He was an assistant professor
in Clinical Medicine at the University of Texas Medical School
at Houston. Dr. Cherry has authored numerous articles on Preventive
Medicine, emphasizing nutrition and exercise. He also speaks
extensively on these topics nationwide and conducts numerous
seminars for various groups and organizations. Currently,
his weekly television program reaches 80 million homes.
In addition
to these duties, Dr. Cherry is president of Community Educational
Television and Jacksonville Educators Broadcasting, which
own and operate a total of six TBN-affiliated Christian television
stations in Texas and Florida. He has written three books,
The Doctor and The Word, The Bible Cure, and
Healing Prayer as well as two mini-books, Herbs
That Heal and God's Pathway To Healing: Menopause.
